In 2019, Better World Initiative purchased an Auckland property specifically dedicated to social housing. Leased at a deeply discounted rate through the Bays Community Housing Trust, every dollar of rental income received is re-invested directly back into our New Zealand-based community initiatives.

By leasing our property through a specialist housing provider, we ensure vulnerable individuals receive safe, stable, and deeply affordable shelter.
This initiative works on a dual-impact model: providing immediate stability to residents while creating a sustainable income stream that funds other local community development projects.

Bays Community Housing Trust
Set up in 2004 in affiliation with Long Bay Baptist Church, Bays Community Housing Trust (BCHT) provides quality, affordable housing on Auckland’s North Shore for those in social and economic need.

Building Inclusive Communities
Bays Community Housing Trust aims to provide much more than just the basic need of shelter. They believe the most effective way to empower and promote longer-term independence and wellbeing for vulnerable people is to connect them with their wider communities.
Through dedicated Community Development Co-ordinators (CDCs), the Trust proactively seeks out isolated residents to identify areas of support. They work with tenants to facilitate ‘micro-communities’ and connect residents with local churches, clubs, and organizations—helping them build lasting, meaningful relationships.
